Your Turnitin guidance is moving!
We’re migrating our content to a new guides site. We plan to fully launch this new site in July. We are making changes to our structure that will help with discoverability and content searching. You can preview the new site now. To help you get up to speed with the new guidance structure, please visit our orientation page .
Excluding small sources
As a student, any exclusions you make to your Similarity Report will not be reflected in your official similarity score. Student changes are only temporary. If you believe your instructor should make exclusions to officially adjust your score, please contact them.Select the red filter icon from the similarity toolbar. From the Filters and Settings side panel, use the radio and text boxes to make report exclusions. You may exclude sources that are less than a certain number of words or a certain percentage of words. For example, filtering by 10 words will exclude all sources with a cumulative match word count that is less than 10 words. A minimum of 10-16 words should be chosen for the feature to work best.
Thank you! Your feedback will help us to improve this guide.
